This really is true of all arts, from Tai-Chi to drawing or music - some things you will just never get until you are actually shown by an experienced person.
I find the most frustrating thing is trying to find someone willing to tutor, especially in the occult arts. Perhaps it's a matter of geographical location, but I just haven't been able to find anyone that is willing to tutor or if I have, the fees for the same would have required me taking out a second mortage!
